Net-Zero Circularity City Suburb

San Fransisco, CA

Here’s a suburban development we at Urban A&O, Inc. are working on just outside of San Francisco that drives to net zero. 20 Acres; 750 Units, 100kSF Retail. 1,000+ Jobs/Residents. It gets stitched into the fabric of that territory that many American cities have; a zone of nowhere: +-1950/60 strip malls, and underutilized infrastructure. Here the goal is to both build and manage regenerative, resilient community developments. The financial model is rental, so management can ensure circularity principles. Local food production, water management, clean energy, micro heat pumps by Ruhl TecConsult, and waste systems are designed at the community scale, comprehensive, ecological landscaping, and low carbon hard surfaces where walkability and micro mobility are key to the success of this model. High performance buildings: we’ve designed a maximum of 9 CLT flip plates, shop fabricated, zero waste, with Mitrex Solar (BIPV) honeycomb solar skins. Data shows a global rental market growth from $1.8T4Q23--$2.6T4Q25.
