COP26

Glasgow, Scotland

Between the 1st and 12th November 2021 Glasgow (Scotland) will host COP26. 30,000 delegates will descend on the city with a myriad of converging global challenges to address: from the Covid pandemic and the climate emergency; to biodiversity loss, racial inequality and social injustice.
Although Glasgow will form the backdrop for the conference, the event itself is likely to ‘happen’ to the city with little opportunity for engagement by the local community. In particular there is currently no culture, arts or design programme in place which directly responds to COP26 within the city.
In order to address this, After the Pandemic has secured access to a brownfield site on the doorstep of COP26. For the next 12 months, this site will create opportunities to present, to perform, and to grow.
After the Pandemic will be a civic centre for Glaswegians; a place of vibrancy and colour for the city; and a focus of creativity for the world. After the Pandemic will respond to the converging global challenges that form the context for COP26, and ensure people and communities are at the heart of that discussion.
